User Story

As a *contributor/translator translating or reviewing a string*, I want to have the ability to *search in Pontoon* ({my-team}/all-projects/all-resources) without opening a new tab or losing the current state of the translation input area, so that I am able to *quickly verify the new translation* comparing to the existing ones (or find the right term).
Currently the translation interface does not allow to start searching in the project or all strings for the language without leaving the current tab or translation state. Some example uses when I personally miss this are below.

- Go translate some strings.
- In the middle of translation I want to verify a term or check if it's already in use somewhere else.
- Now I need to open a new tab, because any search in the translation view would result in losing the current translation in progress.

- Go to translate some strings.
- In the middle of a translation I realize the string is very similar to some existing one.
- If the TM does not show a match (e.g. one of the string has an extra sentence, which increases the Lehvenstein distance above threshold), I need to open a new tab, because any search in the translation view would result in losing the current translation in progress.

- Go to review some suggestions.
- Looking at a suggestion, I want to verify a term or search for a similar string in the existing translations.
- If the TM does not yield a match, I need to open a new tab, because any search in the translation view would result in losing the session state (the string currently under review).
I propose to add the search functionality into a helper tab on the right side of the translation view. Either
- in the machinery helper tab, allow to switch the search results between similarity based ones (current behaviour) and full text in all projects (Transviosion-like search). The Machinery tab would than be probably worth renaming to "Search".
- Or if that may be confusing, introduce a new tab (although we should reduce their number) which will provide the full text search functionality in all projects for the current team.
This is an important aspect of the translate view. I like that you added proposals for the UX. We should consider them as part of the translate view redesign.
Priority: -- → P3
Summary: [translation] Translation view allows search in all strings for my language → [translate] Search all strings of my language without leaving translate view
