Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020613 BuildID: 2002061304 Drag-and-drop of multiple mail messages to move them from one folder to another doesn't work. Some (or no)messages will move, and the mail window stays in "busy" state, with hourglass cursor and throbbing mozilla icon, but the messages never move. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select multiple mail messages in a folder. 2.Drag-and-drop those mail messages to another folder Actual Results: Mozilla keeps throbbing as if it were doing something, but the messages never move. It doesn't "hang," and some other operations are possible. Expected Results: Mail messages would no longer exist in the original folder, but would move to the new folder This is a regression. This worked in 1.0, but now doesn't work.

Using commercial trunk (2002061408) on win 2k: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020614 Tried drag/drop of multiple mesg between folders and/or accounts and this works for me. Mail was successfully moved from one folder to another. I tried imap, pop, and local folders and I was able to drag drop mesgs from any folder to any other folder with no problems. Reporter what mail account are you using? Do you know what type of mail server? Have you tried a new profile? Maybe your profile is corrupted?
Try to mark at least 4 messages. It sometimes works for me if I only try to move 2. I have tried it in both POP and Local Mail folders, and the bug shows up in both. No, I haven't tried it with a new profile. Another user mentioned this bug to me, so I tried it out on my computer, and reported it. I will try a new profile soon.
using commercial trunk: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020617 I still don't see the problem. I am able to drag/drop 30 mesgs from pop->Local folders or Local Folders->Pop with no problems Anything unique about these mesgs you are draging & dropping?
Okay, I created a new profile. I create 2 folders under local mail: folder1 and folder2 In order to have some messages to move around, I imported (via the import command) from Netscape 4.x I select a group of messages, clicking one, then shift clicking one far below (say 10 messages). Then I drag from there to another local folder (imported mail was put in a local folder, so I'm dragging from local folder to local folder). Plain ol' text messages, no mime, no attachments. I get a freezup. I tried sending some mail and moving around the messages I generated via send before I tried importing, above, and I didn't experience the problem. Those messages were moved from the pop send folder to the local mail send folder. Note, this was an entirely new profile, the only thing imported from netscape was the mail, manually, using the import command from the menu.
Reporter, I think you are running into bug 150716. I know that bug deals with 'compacting folders' but it also moving multiple mesgs is also broken. comment from another bug: > I noted in the folder compaction bug, this might be a dup of the folder >compaction bug, because that also involves moving multiple messages, and >re-using the file stream. So you reported this bug with June 13 builds. The fix for bug 150716 didn't go in until June 13. If you could download todays build (6/17) and confirm that you are seeing this bug that would be helpful. As I can't see this problem with the current builds. thanks.
Okay, looks like it works with today's build (3/17)! Great! Thanks!
