Details

Firefox becomes completely unresponsive, and can only be closed by task manager. "page loading" animation still running, but can not use mouse or keyboard to change tabs, open new window, etc. Can not even raise a window from that instance via mouse or task switcher. STR: 1. Launch firefox with new profile 2. go to https://www.google.com/gmail (redirects to https://www.google.com/gmail/about/) 3. click "sign in" 4. observe hang build: 20181223215209
Probably a dupe of bug 1516136 Does it work again if you change dom.storage.next_gen to false ?
(In reply to Matthias Versen [:Matti] from comment #2) > Probably a dupe of bug 1516136 agreed > Does it work again if you change dom.storage.next_gen to false ? I have updated since this report, and can no longer repro, but I'm also on a new build: build: 20181226093642 which is https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/af22225148f7cb57718a9b3f4428d57ba93f6842

Hey Hal, Can you please mention if this is 100% reproducible every time by following the STR? So far I only managed to reproduce it once on Windows 10 x64 and it was quite different. The tab did not instantly freeze, I had to leave it and open new tabs in order to see the crash on gmail...and that happened only once on the same build (20181223215209)

Timea, At the time it was 100% reproducible on both my normal profile and with a new empty profile. I do use a Surface Pro 2017, which does "surface" some corner cases. As I mentioned in comment 3, I no longer have the binary to attempt further reproductions. I just checked, and no crash reports were generated for that event.
