I've had some friends tell me recently that Firefox desktop doesn't play some videos on Facebook. Not sure what the criteria is for this yet as most videos play fine. However, today my wife found a failing video from a family member and shared with me, I can reproduce the issue but the video is private. We get the console error `Invalid URI. Load of media resource failed.` If I spoof as Safari the video plays. It also plays fine in Safari or Chrome. Tested with nightly 66 & release 64 on MacOS with fresh profile. Grabbed a HAR file for both scenarios, default UA video fails and Safari UA video plays. Since there may be private information, I am not sharing publicly but please contact me for diagnosis. There are a series of GETs to .mp4 files, and it looks like the size of them match with both UA's (FF and Safari) All are status 200 with FF but Safari UA has no status code for them And the last one in Safari is a mp4 URI that actually loads the video, even without a UA spoof So as Tom mentioned to me it seems like "they are trying to do something different for firefox, and it's backfiring"
NI Tom as a reminder to look at this in the new year.
