Brief Description of the request:

The add-ons team has a goal of "making the add-ons ecosystem safer" over the next 18 months. This is a more of a "thought bug" to bounce around ideas for measuring progress on that goal.

Any timelines for the request or how this fits into roadmaps:

Long term roadmap for add-ons (18mo)

Ben could you add the priority on this?

Update on discussion with Ben 1/30/19:

  1. Disco TAAR
  • Experiment complete, now just monitor to make sure everything is stable
  • Scott to talk to Martin about running experiment on the minimum number of extensions required on the whitelist to make disco taar performant
  1. Recommendations on Extensions and Themes tabs in about:addons
  • Consider implementing disco taar because it's already developed as a feature and would be easier to measure
  1. Roadmap metrics
  • Ben to look at list of metrics and make suggestions on how to measure security/safety

I think we can close this after recent changes to the add-ons ecosystem, making this less relevant.
