Details

We shouldn't be requiring users to allow themselves to be tracked in order to login to our own services.

STR:

  1. Enable tracker blocking in Firefox Nightly (haven't tested on release)

  2. Try to login to Pocket on the website

Expected: Can login and enjoy reading my stories and loving Pocket and Mozilla.

Actual: Cannot login - the Captcha UI is not visible even.

Workaround: I have to disable tracker blocking and then everything works.

Tragicomic. I'm forced into the surveillance capitalism economy by my own employer, the last bastion in the fight against exactly this 😭

Tony, could you check if this is something we should worry about wrt content blocking? Thanks

(in contrast to other mozilla web properties, the dnt-header doesn't seem to be respected on getpocket.com either)

Thanks Pascal for flagging. Adding Arthur and Tanvi to review.

Any update ? This is still happening.

I had no problem with the captcha on https://getpocket.com/login/ just now in Strict mode, so it seems that this has been fixed.
