Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020617
BuildID: 2002061712
It is possible to have have different bookmark folders open in the bookmarks
sidebar of different windows -- sort of; some strange effects result from the
fact that the bookmark folder open/close state and the folder contents display
state are only partially synchronized between Mozilla windows.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open two mozilla windows, and open the bookmarks sidebar in each
2. In the bookmarks sidebar of window 1, click on some folder's twisty
3. In the bookmarks sidebar of window 2, click on the same folder's twisty
4. In the bookmarks sidebar of window 1, click on the same folder's twisty again
Actual Results: The twisty for the folder is always in the same state in both
windows (points down when "open", points right when "closed"). But...
After step 2 - twisties in both windows are "open"; in window 1, the folder's
contents are shown; in window 2 they are not shown
After step 3 - twisties in both windows are "closed"; in window 2, the folder's
contents are not shown; in window 1 they are still shown
After step 4 - twisties in both windows are "open"; in window 1, the folder's
contents appear twice (each subfolder/bookmark appears twice in a row); in
window two the folder's contents are not shown at all
Expected Results: In general:
Solution 1) changing the bookmarks sidebar view by opening/closing folders in
window 1's bookmarks sidebar has no effect on window 2's bookmarks sidebar
Solution 2) if the open/close state of the folders (and what's displayed) in
window 1's bookmarks sidebar is to be reflected in window 2's bookmarks sidebar,
then make sure the views are completely (not just partially) synchronized
This is more of an annoyance (and might be confusing for some users) than it is
a real problem. This situation might be covered under another more general bug,
but I don't know which one. Could not find an exact dupe.
It appears I was mistaken in sending this to component sidebar, because the
effect is also observable between one mozilla browser window's bookmarks sidebar
and the manage bookmarks window (not just two browser windows' bookmarks sidebars).
Over to bookmarks.

yeah, although I probably had in mind something more like Bug 122578. But
139290 is fine. don't know why i didn't see either one.
