RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1531344

People

(Reporter: trea, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:65.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/65.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to any YouTube livestream
  2. Wait for a few minutes

Actual results:

The video begins buffering forever after several minutes of viewing. The page must be reloaded to continue watching. This appears in the log when the buffering begins:

This occurs both with my main profile on Firefox 65 and a fresh profile on the latest Nightly. My OS is macOS 10.14.3. [Somebody on /r/Firefox appears to be having this same issue:](https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/ao3tvm/youtube_hangup_playing_live_video/)

Apologies for botching the markdown, I figured I would be able to edit the description later, but apparently not. Hopefully my point still comes across.

Thanks for the report.
This extension can display some info about the state of playback, which may be helpful for diagnosing:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/devtools-media-panel/
(I'm not reproducing here, but I don't have a Mac.)

For reference, this is the livestream is question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHW1oY26kxQ

Using the plugin, while the stream is playing, there is only one media source listed. When it begins buffering, a second shows up. They are listed below (apologies for the lack of indentation):

Looks like 1531344. Going to mark this as dupe (despite it being earlier) as I've already started investigating and have linked the other bug to YouTube.
