I'm going to leave this bug for Hiro because I still don't understand what tests he has in mind but from various discussions there seem to be two particular cases of concern:

  • Some variant of layout/reftests/web-animations/restyle-after-display-none.html that runs the animation in a display:none subtree
  • "font size animation on canvas element in display:none subtree and the canvas context setting font='2em serif' or some such and renders the result on a different canvas (I guess this doesn't work in the case of scrolled-out on the current m-c)"
    • Pertains to this comment (the code for which has since changed)
