[Affected versions]
latest Nightly 67.0a1
[Affected platforms]
Windows 10 x64
macOS 10.13
Ubuntu 16.04 x64
[Prerequisites]
Launch Firefox on a clean profile.
Set the following prefs to true in about:config
privacy.trackingprotection.cryptomining.enabled
privacy.trackingprotection.fingerprinting.enabled
browser.contentblocking.cryptomining.preferences.ui.enabled
browser.contentblocking.fingerprinting.preferences.ui.enabled
[Steps to reproduce]
- Go to Content blocking Preferences page and check all 4 options (Tracking, Cookies, Fingerprinting, Cryptomining)
- In a new tab, go to a page that contains Trackers, Cookies and Fingeprintes or Cryptominers(Ex: https://www.bizjournals.com/)
- Check that Trackers are shown, Cookies are shown and Fongerprinters or Cryptominers are shown and blocked (in the Shiel icon menu).
- Go back to Content blocking privacy page and uncheck all the options.
- In a new tab, go to the same page as at step 2 and check the Shield icon menu
[Expected result]
All the found items are shown (Trackers, Cookies, Fingerprinters/Cryptominers) but not blocked.
[Actual result]
Trackers and Cookies are shown even if they are not blocked, because they are found. The Fingerprinters/Cryptominers sections disappear once they are unchecked in the preferences page.
[Note]
Regarding the fact that Trackers and Cookies are shown if being found even when the checkboxes are unchecked, creates a inconsistency between Trackers and Cookies vs. Fingerprinters and Cryptominers.

Yes it's inconsistent but this is currently intentional to not draw too much attention to this WIP experimental feature.
