The New York Times website login works with a Google login, but on logging in with an email and password, it shows a spinner and then fails to log in.

First reported here:
https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/553

Is this a regression? Does this login problem affect Fennec 65 or Focus 8.0.8 with GV 65?

This seems to work fine in Focus 8.0.8. I'm not sure if this is a regression though or a Fenix-specific issue.

The github issue mentions tracking protection might be at play.

The GH issue was closed but it isn't clear to me if the tracking-protection-on case is really fixed? What is the desired behavior when logging in with TP on?

67=wontfix. Fenix MVP will use GeckoView 68, so we don't need to uplift this fix to 67 Beta.

I'm not sure, but it seems like we should show more even with TP. Right now, I can't even get a login failure when using a wrong password. That seems like a webcompat question.
