User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/72.0.3626.130 Safari/537.36 OPR/45.0.2359.89

Steps to reproduce:

When you set your default search provider to one that uses POST requests instead of GET it doesn't work.

  1. Set duckduckgo[.]com/html/ search as your default
  2. Go to a page with, select a text word and right click on selected text and click 'Search Duckduckgo....'
  3. Instead of searching the selected text it just lands back on the search homepage.

This only happens with POST requests. Search engine which use GET requests have no problem.

Component: Untriaged → Search

This might have been fixed in 66 by bug 1467223. Could you try to reproduce the problem on 66 please? There were several related or duplicate search bugs having to do with POST searches that ultimately were fixed by that if I'm not mistaken.
