I just did a reset of my PC (just keeping my file).
First thing I did is download firefox nightly and install it.
Once started it asks to make firefox nightly the default which opens the Default Apps Windows setting.
However, in Web browser, Nightly doesn't show up.
I've now installed Chrome, Firefox release 66, Opera and all those 3 shows in the list to set the default web browser.
But not nightly.

I assume you had Nightly installed before doing the reset, is that correct? Could you try uninstalling Nightly and then installing it again and see if that helps? Thanks.

I had yes.
I have uninstalled/re-installed nightly a dozen times, including nightly from 3 months ago which was the last time I had run an installer.
Interestingly, Firefox shows up in the list to set the default email client.
Just not the default web browser.
For now I've set it as defaults using the old control panel. Seems to work, though interestingly, when you click on the list of app, nightly still doesn't show there

Oh, Nightly just upgraded itself, and now it's showing up in the list.
can close this bug, would be interesting to find out on the why though

Ah no, the nightly showing up in the list is the Nightly I just compiled and ran.
So as it is, the standard, official nightly still can't be set as default browser.

I uninstalled Firefox Nightly once again and then went into regedit and deleted every single references to Program Files\Firefox Nightly
and then re-installed.
Now it's showing in the list

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you got this taken care of, but I'm going to leave this bug open because I really want to try to reproduce it and figure out what was going wrong in your registry.
