User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0
Steps to reproduce:
Skia's text rendering (as well as hardware accelerated text rendering) seems to always render fonts in a not-smooth way. Also, it seems that Skia is incompatible with Mactype, software used on Windows to get smoother fonts like macOS.
If you run Mactype, and render with Cairo rather than Skia, font rendering is drastically improved. I've attached a screenshot to demonstrate this. The left is Skia, which is more jagged and unsmooth, with nonuniform line thickness, and a highly saturated look. It retains that look even with hardware acceleration is disabled.
This is Windows 10.
Expected results:
Text rendering with Skia should work with Mactype, and/or should be more smooth in general.
It seems that Bugzilla defaults to stretching the image when it is clicked. Please view it at native resolution.
