RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1534485

People

(Reporter: gabriel.ganne, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

This only concerns firefox nightly (later than >= 2019-03-09, probably 2019-03-11)

This happens after an update has been downloaded, so once or twice a day, you just have to wait for it.

Actual results:

It seems firefox now installs the update in the background. The issue is that after the update is ready, firefox now refuses to open a new tab for browsing, and instead presents me with a message telling me to restart.

This means that I cannot use firefox as I would when it is updated.
This feels very microsoft-like and very out of place, if I may.

Expected results:

I quite did like the old way of having to restart manually once the update was ready ... but then I guess this did not change for no reason ...

In any case, this prevents me from using firefox normally, so I'm filling this as a bug.

I would think this is a duplicate of bug 1492023 were it not for the above. The behavior in question was added in Firefox 62.
