I've noticed this for a long time ( I even pulled an M14 binary earlier just for
fun and saw the same behaviour ) on Linux and Solaris ( presumably anything that
uses GTK ).

This is easily reproducable :

1) Click "Tools"
2) Hover over "Form Manager" ( menu pops out )
3) Hover over "Search the Web"

"Search the Web" is highlighted for a fraction of a second, then it is
unhighlighted. Moving the cursor at all without leaving the area of that menu
option causes the highlight to come back.

If you click when it's not highlighted, it does work anyway. This is just a
polish bug.
This looks like basically bug 143618
Depends on: 143618
bug 143618 looks similar Boris, not sure if this would be a DUP ( depends on the
actual underlying problem I guess ).

I am able to reproduce bug 143618 by moving quickly enough between menu items in
a pulldown, however this bug is reproducable no matter how fast/slow you go.

Overall, this makes it a pain in the ass scrolling through XUL menus on Unix,
I'm surprised there isn't ( at least ) a bug marked catfood out there, between
this and bug 143618 it seems like this is a bad polish issue ( maybe these
issues are one reason some people think the UI is "clunky" or feels slow on
Linux, and prefer the pure GTK frontends ).
Confirming. Seems like a separate issue from bug 143618 to me. I see this on
the Sparc Solaris build 2002062322.

A similar problem occurs in my configuration. I have a matrox dualhead
videocard. When using mozilla browser on my left screen the above mentioned
problem occurs. But when using mozilla in my right screen (right is my main
desktop) this behavior is not there.
(Maybe this gives a clue)
I use
Mozilla 1.3b
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210
The Windows dualmon specific instance of this problem is also bugged as bug
154163. That doesn't seem responsible for all the behavior recorded here though.
*** Bug 220407 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This does not seem to be a problem in Thunderbird 1.5, still seeing it in Firefox 1.5.0.1 and Firefox trunk nightly builds.
