Crash Data

1.install addon from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher-revived/
2. try to access browser menu
3. firefox crashed
4. restart and uninstall addon
5. try to access browser menu
6. crash again and restart
7. now every time to access browser menu will lead a crash

strange part is that it does NOT help even if I have cleared app data and uninstall firefox, uninstall, and fresh install.

Crash Signature: [@ java.lang.NullPointerException: at android.os.Parcel.readException(Parcel.java)]

This is impacting all my Firefox and make my Firefox nearly usable, forcing me to Chrome.

Is there anything I can do before patch fix?

Hi,

I did not manage to reproduce the issue, after installing the add on, I accessed the browser's menu without any problem. I followed the provided steps with the following

Environment:
Device: Sony Xperia Z5, Android(7.0)
Build: Nightly 68.0a1(2019-04-17), Beta (67.0b11) and Release(66.0.2)

Can you provide more information about the device you use and firmware?

Thank you,
Diana Rus

I feel more like a OS bug now.

Hi,

I tried to reproduce the issue with a different device: Samsung Galaxy S9, Android (8.0.0) and build: Firefox Nightly 68.0a1(2019-05-14), but did not managed to reproduce.

Not a crash present when accessing the browser's menu Samsung Galaxy - No crash present after installing add-on and accessing the browser's menu

I also tried to reproduce with device Huawei P8 Gold, Android(6.0.0) with build: Firefox Nightly 68.0a1(2019-05-15) but still not reproduced - Huawei P8 Gold - No crash present after installing add-on and accessing the browser's menu

Do you still encounter this issue? Have you tried with the latest versions and see whether now it works for you or not?

Regards,
Diana

I personally don't have a second device. So I just borrow a Xiaomi 4X from my friends. The answer seems to be positive.

The strangest part is that Firefox still cashes after I reset the app or do a clean re re-installation. But it also seems that many other apps, like OneDrive using system component for menu drawing seems also encounter this afterwards.

Shall we close this as WORKSFORME

Hi,

Can you please provide a video? It would be really helpful in order to solve the issue.

Hoping to do as I truly am, but it seems useless as it is still cashing even if uninstall Firefox completely and reinstall.

All you can expect is nothing more than cashing scenes instead of reproducing procedures. Do you still actually want it?

Hi, are you still reproducing the issue with the latest builds? Thanks.

I was able to reproduce this crash following the steps on 68.0b9:

  1. Go to https://mozilla.github.io/webrtc-landing/gum_test.html.
  2. Choose Audio & Video and accept permissions.
    Result: Firefox crashes.

However, from the crash report -> Bugzilla tab, 4 open bugs are listed.
Crash Report: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/2eb95cb9-2d2a-4167-9a84-a7b550190611#tab-bugzilla.

Not reproducible on 67.0.2.

Hi,
Sorry for my delay on this.
My older device with this issue is complete down because the screen get wet (trust me, I NEVER want this). So I have to borrow another.
On a another device, in this case Redmi 4X, seems still happening.
Regards.
