Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1a+) Gecko/20020623
BuildID: 20020623

User should have the ability to forbid websites / plugins to play sound.

Steps to Reproduce:
I don't think that the browser can avoid that a plugin uses the sound card, it's
beyond its scope.
The only solution is to block certain sites to uses such plugins at all. (that
bug is already filled)

Invalid?
Imho this bug is not invalid. It's still valid for things like bgmusic in html
or sound in css. Changing summary.
Summary: [RFE] Ability to prevent websites / plugins from playing sound → [RFE] Ability to prevent websites from playing sound
Call it a dupe of bug 94035?
does bgsound work in mozilla?
and how can you specify a sound in css?
Yes, bgsound works. See
http://selfhtml.teamone.de/html/dateiweit/anzeige/bgsound.htm . Well, but
bgsound isn't that important because it's just used very rarely. Blocking the
sound of plugins would be much more important. But if they use the soundcard
directly, there won't be any possibilities for mozilla to prevent them from
doing this. I thougt the plugins would use mozilla to play the sounds, but I
obviously was wrong. Don't know wheter to mark this bug invalid.
