If a GPO policy tells Firefox to use system proxy setting" and says, that a specific key is written to the registry which seems to cause Tor Browser to ignore its own proxy settings.

Mike - Do you know offhand where in code either/both Windows or Firefox group policy override the local proxy setting? I searched but couldn't find it...

Flags: needinfo?(mozilla)

Policies.jsm.

What is the environment here? If a company is setting a proxy, I assume they don't want users bypassing it?

Presumably; but that's kind of what Tor Browser is for :)

We have a configure switch (--enable-proxy-bypass-protection) that is only on for Tor Browser that I would propose putting this 'ignore the proxy policy' code behind.
