Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Display the search bar to Firefox if not already done
  2. Open https://twitter.com/
  3. Click on the arrow on the left of Firefox search bar, select "add Twitter".

Actual results:

  1. "Firefox could not download the search plugin from: https://twitter.com/opensearch.xml" appear in a popup.

Reproduced on Firefox 66 and 68 nightly.

Expected results:

The search engine should have been added.
https://twitter.com/opensearch.xml seems to follow http://www.opensearch.org/ specs.

Has STR: --- → yes
Component: Untriaged → Search

Do you have anything in Tools->Web developer->Console when you try to add it?

It works fine for me in Nightly macOS (68.0a1 (2019-03-27) (64 bit))

There is nothing appearing in the Web console nor in the browser console.

But strangely, after creating a new profile for testing (where it worked fine) and returning to my usual profile, I cannot reproduce the issue any more, the search engine adds fine. That's odd, because we could see the issue on 3 different computers 2 days ago (Windows + Firefox 66, Windows + 68, Linux + 66). :hellosct1 , are you still able to reproduce the bug?

Flags: needinfo?(hellosct1)

Also cant reproduce, given no info for a month going to close
