Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0
Steps to reproduce:
I was simply using Firefox (on my desktop PC) , had started listening to some music from YouTube, opened another tab in order to look something up and the browser refused to so so, stating that it had downloaded something in teh background and that it needed to be restarted.
Actual results:
as above.
Expected results:
- It is not acceptable for a browser to download ANYTHING in the background. It may tell me if there is a security update, but should allow me to decided if and when I wish to download and apply it. I know that not everyone would agree, but I feel that this is a security issue, as well as a user-unfriendliness issue. My PC - I control what does and does not get installed on it, not some browser without a by-your leave.
- It is not acceptable for a browser to refuse to allow me to continue using new tabs or windows until it is restarted.
- If this behaviour does not change and soon, I shall simply stop using Firefox as my main browser.
