Should be:
Bugzilla should show "This result was limited to 500 bugs. See all search results for this query." in Bug List for over 500 bugs (>500 / 501 and more)

Are you suggesting we detect when there are more than 500? Right now we only know the number was limited to 500, not how many more there are.

Yes, "This result was limited to 500 bugs. See all search results for this query." shows for me when there are only 500 bugs in Bug List, so there isn't anything to limit.
