User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

When using the integrated IBM Sametime Webchat application and opening a new chat with someone and typing in a new message and trying to send with pressing the "ENTER" key of the keyboard the chat message is not send to the other user. Instead of sending the message, a line break is added.

The same bug was already reported here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1538970
But was resolved with Firefox 66.0.3

The following workaround helps in the meanwhile: https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm10878174

Actual results:

Unable to send chat message

Expected results:

The chat message should be sent to the other user

Hi there, thanks for the report! Is this affecting a IBM installation hosted by IBM or is it hosted on your company's own servers?

Flags: needinfo?(dschubert) → needinfo?(nina.knapp)

The service is hosted by IBM, it's a cloud based web chat which is part of the cloud and browser based e-mail service IBM Verse.

Hm, that's interesting, as that should be covered by bug 1538970 then. Can you please share the domain under which you access the webchat service?

Flags: needinfo?(nina.knapp)

It was working since version 66.0.3 but since 67.0 it is not working anymore without the fix in the config.

As we are deployed to the EU data center we are using the following domains:

https://mail.notes.ce.collabserv.com/verse

https://webchat.ce.collabserv.com/stwebclient/popup.jsp?lang=en

Mike, do we still have a test account for that so I could dig into this report?

So, this is still going on.

Dennis, any progress here? It seems like this has dropped off the radar.

Hey there, :adrianomarcondes, thanks for pinging back. I'm baffled, because according to our information, this should be fixed.

Do you mind helping me out and telling me the domain you're experiencing this on? Is this an IBM-hosted instance, or something hosted on-premise by a company?

Hi Dennis.

It is a on-premise situation. At my office, we're using an older version of Firefox and it works alright. Due to the covid19 pandemic, I've been at home-office for 3 months now, and I was pretty much unable to chat before I find the workaround on some other chat (the about:config parameter).

My version of Firefox is the latest available (77.0.1 (64-bits)) and the link is not acessible to you. It only works inside my VPN connection.

Thanks for the update - it sounds like the on-premise version pre-dates the fix made by IBM.

https://im.bb.com.br/stwebclient/buildinfo.txt should give the version info -- we were told by IBM that versions 10 and above contain the fix.
One possible solution would be for us to add im.bb.com.br to the dom.keyboardevent.keypress.hack.use_legacy_keycode_and_charcode pref, but it's also possible to set that pref via an Enterprise Policy (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/dom-events-changes-introduced-firefox-66).

Adriano, do you know if other folks inside Banco do Brasil are experiencing this issue? And would you mind sharing the version found at https://im.bb.com.br/stwebclient/buildinfo.txt?

(Seems like this is a no-op for me, for now, so clearing needinfo. I'll jump on this bug again if there is something that we could do on our side. :))
