User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

When I close the Firefox with multiple tabs, I expect te FIrefox to reopen them later. But when I have there only one tab, I expect Firefox to NOT reopen in the next time, i.e. work done, user wants to start fresh the next time.

This was also the behaviour in the past and is in other browsers like Chrome or IE.

Actual results:

Firefox does restore 1 tab.

Expected results:

Firefox should not reopen any tabs if the Firefox was closed with only 1 tab.

Component: Untriaged → Session Restore

Seems duplication of Bug 492383

The issue there is described a quite differently and this behaviour I am describing is presented when "I just close the browser with X".

Currently there is an "Restore previous session" option only. And is restores the tabs no matter what the counts it.

I past the restore worked differently/as expected. If multiple tabs were about to close, Firefox asked if I want to save them. But it asked only if multiple tabs were presented.

This is behaviour that should be by default or at least a MUST that can be configured somehow. If you know how currently, please write, otherwise it is a bug affecting everyday experience. Who wants to come back to work and be distracted with the last opened tab? Or if you disable the restore completely, you risk to loose multiple opened tabs (when multiple tabs are opened, user should close them one by one to confirm they should be really closed/not restored).

The priority flag is not set for this bug.
:mikedeboer, could you have a look please?

Hi mvorisek, thanks for reporting this bug!

This was also the behaviour in the past and is in other browsers like Chrome or IE.

I'm very curious to learn when this was the behavior in the past and if you can tell me which Firefox version first regressed it?

I understand your reasoning, but I think we're at a scenario here where you're asking us to implement something that's strictly incorrect: it's sessionstore's job to always remember the last browsing state and restore it when you come back as closely as possible. If that state is not to your liking at that moment, you are free to enter a different URL, open a new tab, a different tab, anything really.

At this point, considering our small amount of available resources, I will close this request as WONTFIX. If you can find the time to implement this feature request yourself, or know of someone else who can, please feel free to re-open!
