User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

Have a window of Firefox for macOS X 10.14 open and pressing ctrl+cmd+space in a text field (or rather anywhere) in firefox.

Actual results:

Emoji selector did not show up

Expected results:

I expect the emoji picker to show up as explained here: http://osxdaily.com/2015/05/27/quick-type-emoji-mac-keyboard-shortcut/

This might sound like something that is just a nuisance or irrelevant but this is something i used several times a day in the browser i used before migrating and is something that would have me migrate to another browser than firefox.

It's the small things.

I have attempted to reproduce your issue on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.14.5 and on Nightly v69.0a1, Beta v68.0 and Release v67.0.4. This issue does not reproduce; The emoji selector is properly displayed and works without any issue. There must be something on your user profile that causes the issue you are having.

Please try to reproduce your issue in safe-mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode) or in a newly created profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager) to make sure that your issue is not related to the extensions installed or user data made on current profile.

Thank you for your contribution!

Thanks for looking into this. After starting firefox in safe mode it works (and also shows the options to launch the keyboard from the edit menu). I figured out it has something to do with the language pack. I initially downloaded firefox in with swedish menus, instead of re-downloading with en-US, i just installed the English (United States) language pack for menus, messages and notifications and with that activated the keyboard shortcut and menu option is no longer there.

I have installed the latest Release version with Swedish language pack (sv-SE) and the issue still does not reproduce. The emoji selector is displayed and it works. Where did you get the original build from? This issue still feels like it's related to the user data on the profile, rather than Firefox itself. Thanks.

I started with downloading the swedish firefox. Then applying the en-US pack. I'll try to change to using a en-US build

This doesn't seem like a Core::Layout issue; it's more to do with platform-specific integration. I'm moving it to Core::Widget:Cocoa for now, though not at all sure where the problem really lies.

FWIW, I tried downloading the Swedish build of Firefox 68, and I don't see the Dictation or Emoji & Symbols (Börja diktera; Emoji och symboler) items at the end of the Edit menu at all, although I do see them in my local versions of both Firefox and Nightly. I tried adding the en-US language pack to my sv-SE copy, and still didn't see these menu items. I don't know what determines whether they appear or not...

Oh, wait... something odd is going on here. When I first launch my sv-SE Firefox, I don't see these menu items; but after browsing around for a bit, they appear in the menu. If I then open a new window, they're missing; but switching back and forth between the new and old windows makes them appear. There seems to be something a bit erratic about whether or not they show up, and each browser window has its own idea about whether to show them.

Component: Layout: Text and Fonts → Widget: Cocoa

This looks like bug 1563295. I'm going to dupe this over. Please let me know if you disagree for any reason.
