grey text from address bar does not change to duckduckgo

Expected results:

it should change to duckduckgo

Component: Untriaged → Address Bar

Is it reproducible in latest stable Firefox (currently version 68.0)

Component: Address Bar → Search

Please can you describe exactly how you are setting the default engine? This works for me with all the normal routes.

There is code in place to prevent changing the text in the urlbar if the default engine is updated whilst we're display that text (because generally that's a result of a non-user action, and avoids a jarring response), but this could be a user action that we need to allow the change for.

No reply from the OP from over 1 week, so I'm marking this as INCOMPLETE.
Please reopen this bug if you will be providing reply to comment #3 and comment #4.
