User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. in about:preferences#privacy, turn on tracking protection in all window
  2. visit any site with tracker
  3. clear all browsing history

Actual results:

about:protections stats is reset

Expected results:

exclude about:protections stats data from browser history,
and, if necessary, give a reset button

I will set a component for now, if isn't the right one please fell free to change it. As it said at "Type" this is more an enhancement, but someone from dev's team could confirm the status.

This is intentionally coupled to user history for now. When we revamp our data clearing options eventually we might move this into a different category, but for now we think we'd lean towards clearing more aggressively.

Just a question here:
can you make the category difference extension-aware?
Since they are many history auto-cleaning extension based on date out there and that can be confusing.

Flags: needinfo?(jhofmann)

I don't think this would be cleared if an extension clears history right now, but maybe it's something we should do. Data Sanitization is a big construction site in general.
