Some time ago we switched to using Arial for the main content of MDN Web Docs. We never went back and looked at whether we still need to serve custom fonts for some of our locales.
Having tested the following page with Arial, the indication is very strong that we no longer need to serve these custom CSS files to specify custom font faces.
Because these are currently added as a link
tag which is render-blocking, as opposed to inlined[1], no longer serving these files could have a positive performance impact.
