Details

If email is opened 1st, then the browser, then in the browser is a normal inout field - say the search field of Yahoo or Google nothing can be entered - in fact the cursor does not appear and cannot be forced to appear. If the email window is then shutdown, the cursor will appear in the input field in the browser. If the email window is then reopened all remains OK. If the browser is then shutdown and reopened it is OK as well. So as far as I can tell it only happens on the initial startup - if email is opened first.
