Steps to reproduce:

Play a video on HTML5(?) video on Youtube, HBOGo, Plex, etc

Actual results:

Video plays with evenly spaced bars in dark areas of the video. Bar size changes when changing video to full screen.

Expected results:

Video should play without of the bars just normal gradients from lighter to dark

bigelow96: In order to see the black bars in the attachment, I had to download it and make changes to the black-levels in an editor. Since this appears to be a subtle issue, can you give a particular video link / timestamp so we can try to reproduce locally?

I get it very clearly on this video all over the dark green grass background at 23:01 https://youtu.be/RaYQHEcCvZQ?t=1381
It may be that my monitor/color settings make it more apparent, but I can narrow it down definitively to Firefox (Doesn't happen in Chrome or Edge) and it only appears while the video is playing (pausing the video makes it instantly disappear)

I still can't see where the black bar is in the attachment in comment0, and I could't reproduce this issue on both Nightly and Release on OSX 10.14 and Ubuntu 18.04.

It's interesting, do you mean if you pause the video and then the black bar would immediately disappear? Could you have a screenshot for both playing video and paused video?

What's platform you're running on? Could you paste the info from about:support to here?

Unfortunately, I can't see the problem either in the screenshots or on my Windows 10 laptop, even playing around with the images in Gimp. I'm guessing this is very dependent upon the monitor being used. I'll call it confirmed based upon Comment 1, but I'm not sure if this is something we can practically fix without a monitor where the problem is visible, in particular if the problem disappears if the video is paused.
