Bug 1571589 added nice support for stripping prefixes, renaming paths, and recompressing as zstandard. But zstandard is, in fact, not particularly standard! Python supports bz2, gz, xz out of the box (but not zstd). This ticket tracks adding support for more formats.
This should allow to avoid adding zstandard across releng-hardware: Bug 1576244.

I believe that zstandard is now available on releng-hardware platforms so this shouldn't be needed.
