Details

Collected Addresses fills up too quickly (keeping default limit at 700) because
of duplicates. This also slows address checking on new messages. I have only
seen this on Mac OS X. On Win2K I don't see this problem.
I don't see how this is a bug.. it depends on how many emails you get. If you
get more emails on your MacOSX box than Windowz box, I would say that is your
problem, and not Mozillas.

Perhaps you should rephrase to something like:
"I don't think the code that checks for duplicate entries in the AB is good
enough, could something be done to make it better ?"

Is that what this bug is about ?
Yes, that would be a better phrasing of the problem. Duplicates should not be
added to "Collected Addresses." It seems pointless to insert a "new" addresses
in a fixed length list if we already have it. Each slot should be unique. After
all, it's an address book, not a mail receipt log. As I understand it, the
purpose of Collected Addresses is to make it easier to send new mail to people
who sent you mail, not to track who sends you the most.

I'll amend my original description to say I do see this on the PC as well. It
was more obvious to me on the Mac because I sent fewer emails there.
