This finds a bunch of stats that our profiler doesn't. I'm creating a metabug to keep track of this work.
I'm not done yet, but in addition to bug 1579607 filed by someone else, based on strace output, I've now filed:
bug 1580656
bug 1580654
bug 1580638
I also filed bug 1580650, which isn't really about startup, but on the upside, it does affect other platforms as well (the others are all Linux-specific, so far - there's probably more stuff hiding in these strace files, which unfortunately are a bit of a pain to filter).

If you could get this into a CSV format with columns like that of the attached file in bug 1627071, you could use procmon-analyze to visualize the strace output. Could be handy.
