Firefox causes my system to have high input latency / input lag after suspend or a long uptime

Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0
Steps to reproduce:
On my Regolith Linux (GNOME Fallback + i3 + XOrg on Pop!_OS) and GNOME Shell (GNOME Shell + Wayland on Ubuntu 19.04) desktops, leaving Firefox open for a long time (4 to 8 hours) or suspending and resuming the system with Firefox open will trigger the bug.
Actual results:
The entire system has high keyboard latency. Anywhere (Firefox, the terminal, GNOME applications, etc) that I type text, if I type faster than a few WPM, the text does not show up immediately. Instead, the whole window freezes, and the text slowly fills in over time. After it's finished, in between a half second and a few tens of seconds, the window unfreezes.
This is reliably fixed by closing Firefox. It is not related to a high CPU usage or a high RAM demand.
Expected results:
Firefox should at the very least not affect the performance of other applications and probably should not have this problem itself.
