1/ Add smartphone to Firefox account
2/ Enable syncing of Logins
3/ Check logins are populated when using WiFi
4/ Disconnect WiFi and connect via mobile data (4G)
5/ Go to about:logins (Tools -> Logins)

Expected Result
1/ List of sync'd logins show and are searchable

Actual Result
1/ No logins show, just spinning donut

Sync only over Wi-Fi is set to off

I tried by following your steps to reproduce and with Sync only over Wi-Fi set to Off, with a Google Pixel 3a XL (Android 9) on Firefox Release 68.1.1 and Firefox Beta 68.2b6 but was not able.

  • What device and firmware are you using?
  • Can you provide a video with how you encounter the issue?

Device is OnePlus 6 (A6003_22_190911) running Android 9 and OxygenOS version 9.0.9
I've just tried again and it is currently working, but has happened a number of times.
What is the best way/app for recording the issue?

Hi, so I tried with a One Plus A6013(Android 9) and OxygenOS 9.0.1 - is the most similar with what you have - on Firefox Release 68.1.1 and Firefox Beta 68.2b7 and did not encounter your issue, tried with different scenarios like:

  • having logins already saved and only changing from Wi-Fi to mobile data
  • having new logins entries added after disabling Wi-fi and enabling mobile data - without sync
  • having new logins entries added through mobile after disabling Wi-fi and enabling mobile data - with sync from mobile to PC
  • having new logins entries added through PC with disabled Wi-fi and enabled mobile data - with sync from pc to mobile
    A video would help in this situation.

Closing as cannot reproduce. Confirmed in the code that there's no specific flag for wifi versus mobile data in this area

Okay, been doing some testing over the weeks.
It is nothing to do with how I connect.
For some reason, the link to Firefox accounts does not always seem to come up correctly.
A workaround is to close and reopen Firefox, that usually fixes it. If not, I have to go into Settings, Firefox Account, click to Sync and then restart Firefox.
