User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:71.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/71.0

Steps to reproduce:

While watching streaming videos in full-screen,
close tab (Ctrl + W)
Nightly 71.0a1 (2019-10-16) (64-bit)

Actual results:

Tab closes. The entire browser screen remains in fullscreen mode.
All things are inaccessible - the address bar, or the tabs bar, menu bar
ctrl+tab does cycle through the other tabs ...

Expected results:

normal browser capabilities should resume

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Tabbed Browser

I can't seem to reproduce this. Can you reproduce this in safe mode / with a new profile? If so, could you help us find a regression range?

I can reproduce the issue on Nightly71.0a1(BuildID 20191016212918) Windows10.

STR:

  1. Start browser with normal size mode(i.e, not maximized)
  2. Open any web page (e,g, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page )
  3. Open video ( e.g, https://base-n.de/webm/VP9%20Sample.html ) in a new tab
  4. Click fullscreen button in video controls of a video
    --- enter fullscreen as expected
  5. Close this tab ( Ctrl+W )
    --- Bug appears

Actual results:
No Browser toolbar(Menu/Tab/Nav bar).
Only contents area is shown.

Regressed by: Bug 1505916

I ran this in "safe" mode - basically restarted the browser with addons disabled.
Have recorded a small video of what am seeing (In safe mode).
Please see the attached animated-gif.

Basically I have a window with two tabs. Tab1 is mozilla.org site. Tab2 is a youtube-video.
After the video is made full-screen, I close the tab with CTRL+W.
You will see that Tab1 remains ... but is in full-screen mode. No address-bar, etc.

Another set of observations:

Observation 1
Am browsing the web in one window of Nightly (W1)
Now, if I open a New Window (not tab) - W2 - and do the same actions mentioned in my bug report, then the window W2 closes with the CTRL+W action (as expected.... if the only tab in the window is closed, then the window closes). At that time, the W1 window is still usable. It is not in full-screen mode.

Observation 2 - hack to solve the issue
If the browser goes into full-screen mode, then I press CTRL+SHIFT+T to get back the video window that I closed. Now the video is available there. I click on the "fullscreen" mode for the video, and then the "ESC" key. This ensures that the video comes out of full-screen mode. This also ensures that the rest of the Nightly browsing window comes back to usable mode (it is not in full-screen anymore)

[Tracking Requested - why for this release]: can't ship this.

ablayelyfondou, can you take this?
