Would like to explore the options to promote the upcoming Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature in Firefox.
PiP will be released in Firefox 71 for Windows, Mac OS / Linux are targeting 72 currently.
Looking to understand the best ways to call this out in product, using a CFR or What's New.
It's also reasonable to use What's New for the 71 release but then build a more complex CFR for 72 when Mac and Linux get support.
Not sure if there is a good way to highlight the PiP Toggle, which floats over top of videos on the right side. Maybe darken the page or something (I'm clearly not a designer)?
The goal is to make users aware of the feature and how to use it.

Aaron, any thoughts about the best UX here for highlighting this feature?

Yeah! I've got some ideas we could experiment with here. I think setting some time up to talk with the team working on the PiP feature would be helpful. We'll set something up.

Aaron, do we need UX for this CFR? If so, has it been completed?

There are UX concerns around a CFR badge in the URL bar that would likely prompt confusion about where the feature "lived". Since the feature announces itself on videos using a very CFR-like button, we determined it had it's own baked-in way of promoting itself. We opted, instead, to run a campaign in the What's New Panel.
All that to say, I think we can close this as completed -- or maybe a wontfix since we never did a "CFR" campaign.

Hey Adam, based on Aaron's comments, what do you want to do?

Sorry, that was less of a recommendation and more of a summary of our conversation with Adam, Kate and myself. If there are new thoughts here, though, I'm happy to discuss further!

Yes let's close this for now and if we notice that adoption is low we can address in the future.
