Obfuscating downstream referrer chains are oftern deployed by bad actors and researching such chain nodes does not work well with FX since it does not retain a full log despite Presist logs
being checked.
In the referenced URL for instance the initial node's URL is absent from the log.

Thanks for the report!
Do you have URL I could use to see this issue on my machine?
The one from your screencast http://nf.bjbzmine356.xyz/index
doesn't seem to be working.
Honza
replaced the reference url. the added screenshot displays side by side the web panels of FX dev and GC dev, latter retaining the log correctly.
Each browser's cache been cleaned entirely prior the exercise.

So, here is what I am doing:
STR #1:
- Open a new empty Firefox tab
- Open DevTools Toolbox on it and select the Network panel
- Make sure the "Persist Logs" option is on
- Paste
https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&url=http%3A%2F%2Fceranovan.com%2F&usg=AOvVaw2BSm1IZIVWmN94K1U5dWgZ
URL into the address bar and press enter - Check out the Network panel, the
https://www.google.de
request isn't there -> BUG
When starting with an existing loaded page (i.e. not with an empty new tab), it seems to be working well.
Does this correspond to what you are reporting?

Yes. Adding to it the observation that if the url been accessed already and the browser cache not been cleared the issue will not be exhibited.

Any updates on this?? I have to use chrome because of this issue.
No update, still in our backlog.
But, when retesting this and following my STR from comment #5 I am getting an error when the browser is trying to load ceranovan.com site.
Do you have any alternate STRs, so we can reproduce this bug when jumping into fixing this?

Clear a needinfo that is pending on an inactive user.
Inactive users most likely will not respond; if the missing information is essential and cannot be collected another way, the bug maybe should be closed as INCOMPLETE
.

ceranovan.com site doesn't exist anymore and there are not alternative STRs.
Closing as inactive
Please reopen if you are still experiencing this issue, thank you.
