Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the DevTools console
  2. Enter some words in the prompt
  3. Try to use some common keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+V to paste, Ctrl+Left/Right to jump around words, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to select words, Ctrl+Backspace to delete a word

Actual results:

The shortcuts don't work in the console prompt. They do work in other input fields, such as the "Filter output" field in the console, or in the inspector.

This seems to be related to Gnome somehow, I've had this problem for years on two different machines running Gnome, but can't reproduce it on another machine running Xfce. I don't think it's related to my settings, and I'm definitely not mapping these keys elsewhere as they do work fine in other inputs inside Firefox.

Expected results:

The shortcuts should work normally.

I'm curious if anybody can reproduce this, or narrow down the environmental factors.

I'm currently on Firefox 71, Gnome 3.34, Debian unstable.
