+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1592653 +++

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:71.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/71.0

Steps to reproduce:

  • Go fullscreen mode
  • try to close tab (cmd/ctrl + w)

Firefox Developer Edition 71.0b5 (64-bit)
macOS Catalina 10.15.1 (19B88)

Actual results:

Tabs, url bar and bookmarks disappear

Expected results:

Tabs, url bar and bookmarks shouldn't disappear

I tried to reproduce this using 20191031113544, 71.0b6 but wasn't able to. Adding Camelia in case her team can reproduce.

Summary: Tabs, url bar and bookmarks disappear when you close tab (cmd+w) while fullscreen mode on macOS Catalina → [10.15] Tabs, url bar and bookmarks disappear when you close tab (cmd+w) while fullscreen mode on macOS Catalina

I've reproduced the issue on macOS 10.15.1 using Firefox 71 Beta 7 (buildID: 20191104135555).

Scenario:

  1. Launch Firefox and play a Youtube video.
  2. Click on the Full Screen button from the video -> the video is displayed now in Full Screen.
  3. While the video is in Full Screen, press cmd+w to close the tab.
Actual results: URL Bar disappears (tabs and bookmarks also).

I am unable to reproduce this with the same configuration. How many tabs are open? I'm assuming this reproduces with any Youtube video? Does this reproduce if the browser is put into fullscreen mode by clicking the green button in the top left corner of the browser window?

I have 2 tabs opened: for example, one with about:support and one with a Youtube video; I can reproduce the issue with different Youtube videos, not with a specific video. You can see the attached video "issue.mov".

Also, I can't reproduce the issue if I put the browser in Full Screen mode (by clicking the green button in the top left corner of the browser window). I'm able to reproduce this only if I put the Youtube video in Full Screen (by clicking "Full Screen" button from the Youtube video).

Okay, this is the same way that I was trying to reproduce the issue. Unfortunately, I've been unsuccessful so far. Is this a regression? Would you be able to run mozregression to check?

Thank you! It looks like this bug may be a duplicate of bug 1588386 then. That bug was just fixed in Nightly. Could you retest and verify that this is indeed fixed now and therefore a duplicate of bug 1588386? Thank you!

Flags: needinfo?(camelia.badau)

The issue is fixed on Firefox 71 Beta 8 (buildID: 20191107101713) and yes, it seems it is a duplicate of bug 1588386.
