Details
The reasons for blocking images apply to just about anything you can put an OBJECT tag in for: 1. Ads. 2. Web bugs. 3. Attempts to destroy the layout of on-line forums, or just posting nasty looking pictures. 4. Bandwidth concerns. Additional reasons for blocking non-images: 5. Background music. How many people deleted the MIDI DLL from Netscape 4.x? 6. The Flash or Java equivalent of fork bombs. You could add another entry to the Privacy and Security section, or just add a generalized "privacy rules" manager that allowed rules across images, iframes, cookies, etc. (An analogous UI would work for information automatically submitted, such as form info, referrer and cookies, but that's another issue.)
