Brief description of the request:
3rd party softwares on a Windows machine where Firefox is installed often load DLLs inside the Firefox process to interract with the browser. This injection blocks the main process and can take several seconds depending on the DLL - overall this makes startup time longer which is assumed to impact user retention.
https://iodide.telemetry.mozilla.org/notebooks/287/?viewMode=report shows the startup time impact 3rd party DLL loading inside firefox can have.

This request is to answer the following questions:

  • Which DLLs have the higher impact in terms of users affected / longer load time?
  • Do higher impact DLLs negatively impact retention?

Notes:

  • We should look at DLLs that are a combination of high number of users and high load time to best help identify DLLs with high impoact on user base.
