Details

The absearch service will need to be maintained for some time after most clients move to remote-settings. This service should be replaced with a read-only proxy that has this behaviour:

  • API transparency with current absearch api
  • reads from the remote-settings search collection
  • generates a response from data in remote-settings that absearch clients understand

I don't think this blocks modernisation, but should depend on it. We probably don't want to replace the current ABSearch functionality until after we have rolled out modernisation, in case we need to update anything in the meantime.

Writing a new recommendation to update ABSearch instead of replacing it with a readonly service. Closing this bug as INVALID as a read-only proxy does not make sense with ABSearch traffic patterns.
