Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0

Steps to reproduce:

Go to: https://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&gbh=1
This will re-direct to https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn

Actual results:

Firefox will instantly report:
Gah. Your tab just crashed.
We can help!

Choose Restore This Tab or Restore All Crashed Tabs to reload the page/pages

Regardless of how many times I restart the web page it crashes ("help" is of no help).

Expected results:

Normal operation in which I can log in to ebay and continue to work as expected.
I have a highly customized installation with lots of security but I started a brand new completely empty version and it happened then too. I have also retrograded to 68.1.0-1.el7 which also crashes. This is inside a VirtualBox VM where I do my daily business work. Below is the "trouble shooting" output from the slightly older installation.

This is not the only page that crashes but the only one I am willing to share. I don't consider this to be a P1 but I DO the others (corporate billing, benefits registration, and other enterprise pages that impact my ability to make/bill money and have health care). Prompt non condescending attention forthright and actionable assistance is required.

Hi Nakota,

I was unable to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 18.04.3 with Firefox Nightly 72.0a1. But maybe you can provide me with a bit more info.

Does this issue occur with a fresh profile? you can find the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager

Also, I've noticed that you are using an old version.
Can you please download Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ and retest the problem and see if the issue still occurs there as well? Or merely install a latest version of Firefox: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and try again?

If after doing this you can still reproduce the bug, could you send me a screenshot or a video of the bug? That always helps a lot.

Thanks in advance, Flor.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Security: Process Sandboxing
Product: Firefox → Core

No obvious indication that this is sandboxing. I'm guessing that the bot was set off by the sandboxing-related keywords in the about:support text, which would be present in any Linux about:support. (Also, I notice that the table of rejected system calls is empty, which rules out some of the possible sandbox-related failure modes although not all of them.)

Component: Security: Process Sandboxing → Untriaged
Product: Core → Firefox

Hi,

I'm marking this as Resolved-Incomplete due to lack of response. If the issue is still reproducible with the latest Firefox version, feel free to reopen the bug with more information.

Regards, Flor.

Hi. This is also happening to me in Firefox 79.0 on Win 10(64-bit).

Every time I visit the ebay login page my tab crashes - https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&UsingSSL=1&siteid=3&co_partnerId=2&pageType=2323012&ru=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsh%2Fovw

Works fine in Chrome and new Edge browser, and also in Firefox on Win 7. I've tried disabling extensions and also using Private Window but still the same result. My last submitted error report is -

Are these comments even being considered?

Still no reply from Mozilla but I've tracked down my ebay login problem to Firefox blocking a SameSite ebay cookie. Sorted by going to Settings +> Privacy & Security => Custom and un-checking the Cookies box.

After sending numerous bug reports each time the tab crashed I expected at least an acknowledgement from Mozilla. I will send no more data to Mozilla in future.

Hi malc52,

The "Untriaged" component in Bugzilla is triaged roughly once a week, and I suspect this is why you haven't heard a response yet. Also, people are on summer holiday.

53e52e75-173d-4ef7-bc39-eb53f87a353a is an invalid crash ID - as in, it doesn't direct us to a crash report. If you visit about:crashes, and click on that crash report, what is the URL that it sends you to?

You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
