User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/78.0.3904.97 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Go to m.youtube.com on android handset. Play any video. Click on fullscreen option. The video will play in portrait mode instead of landscape mode.

Actual results:

Youtube videos are played in portrait mode even when fullscreen is clicked. This changed since 12th November 2019. Before that, firefox controls were used for youtube videos. Now youtube has employed custom controls, and those controls are working on chrome & other chromium based browsers correctly.

However, Firefox preview is still using firefox controls for youtube videos. So, if those were to be introduced for fennec as well, these may resolve the issue.

The bug has been reported here as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/dvi038/youtube_fullscreen_no_longer_going_landscape_on/

Expected results:

Youtube videos should play in landscape mode when fullscreen is selected.

Screen recording of the bug:

Note how in desktop mode, firefox is able to playback in landscape when fullscreen is selected (please ignore the aspect ratio in landscape mode as it played perfectly on my android device). But when in mobile mode, it continues in portrait mode.

please help resolve this issue.

Sounds like a Firefox preview issue.

It actually is a Fennec issue - the Fenix/Firefox Preview implementation of this feature has its own share of problems, but not working on pages with custom video controls (which as of very recently now seems to include Youtube, too) doesn't seem to be one of them.

Yeah, this is a Fennec thing. GV doesn't do anything here.

Tentatively setting this to P3 because I'm not certain of the priority for Fennec only bugs these days.
