User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020721
BuildID: Mozilla 1.1b (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US;
rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020721)
When I try to polay FM radio WQXR over Mozilla it always asks me to install Real
Player. Both the installers nsrp8.exe and rp8-win.exe install, but without
connecting to Mozilla.
They both seem to be looking for Netscape 5.0 (which I don't have installed).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. At New York Times Online select Play WQXR on the front page ("Home") of the
Times.
2. It will say you must have Real Player (although if you look in the fine print
you can find Windows Media Player -- which works but only after a substantial delay.
3. Click on "Play with eal Player." It will lead you to zn install page. Try to
install the player. It will install, but will not connect to Mozilla as a direct
click-through.

can you check Help|About Plugins and tell us if RealPlayer is listed there, and
what version of Real is installed. Also, can you navigate to your Netscape
directory|Plugins and tell us if you see nppl3260.dll and nppl3260.xpt are
present. Those are the Real files that should be there. Finally :) -- if you
have an older version of Real please upgrade

Yeah, Real 8 only looks for "Netscape" registry keys and not "Mozilla" ones. You
can copy nppl3260.dll and nppl3260.xpt from the Netscape 7 components folder to
the Mozilla plugins one.
Does Real One install okay for Mozilla? If not, perhaps Real could be
evangelized to update their installer to recognize Mozilla?
unable to get real player 8 to integrate with mozilla 1.0.
using realone is not an option..more bloatware adn there are better programs for
that..:)

Reporter: can you please resond to comments in #1
Whiteboard: [awaiting response]
Where can i find the files from comment #1? they didn't exist on my system
anywhere (Win 2k pro, real 8 basic installed)! i reinstalled real player 8 basic
(just to be sure)... but they don't show up. :-(
how to get it working?

you may need to copy the dll into the plugins directory, search your system for
the np*.dll file and ensure they are in the plugins dir
yes, i know about copying... but it seems that the files don't ship with the
"realplayer 8 basic" - installer!
i installed it a second time and none of the files mentioned are existing
anywhere on my harddrive! :-(
i can find some npp*** pdf-plugin-dll's. but no real player plugin! could it be
that real player doesn't install any of them? i don't have netscape installed.
only the standard ie (that ships with win 2k) and mozilla. perhaps the installer
doesn't expand them. i don't have the right tool to look insinde the installer
file. :-/

The Real installers may not correctly find Mozilla but they should find Netscape
7. Simply install the Netscape 7 with Real and then copy nppl3260.dll and xpt
out of the Netscape 7 components folder into the Mozilla plugins one.

the RealPlayer8 installer was created prior to the registry name update so they
are out of sync with the registry, we talked to Real about this and they
indicated that Real8 is not the current product (RealOne is), so they were
reluctant to alter the installer -- can't blame them for not wanting to work on
the old installer. Consequently, this will not be resolved, the only work around
that I know of is to have the Program Files|Netscape|Netscape|plugins path.

hm. i didn't test it yet, but perhaps the workaround from
http://www.vorstrasse91.com/moztips/tips.html will help. you don't have to
install netscape. and i DON't want to have to. netscape seems to provide a
modified realplayer 8 installer. just have a try...

Could anyone be so kind and post the required files here? I'm not able to get
'em from anywhere else and really don't want to install too many browsers
locally, here. :o(
thx
