Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko)

Steps to reproduce:

Have a large number of tabs open (Uncertain of cutoff number, I have over 100 tabs open).
Open multiple new tabs
Select a previously used tab
Go back to the last tab in the list
Close the active tab

NOTE: This does not happen every time. I have seen this happen on numerous occasions over the last few months, but can’t seem to cause it to happen intentionally. May require some specific timing?
Essentially the same bug as reported in: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1555242
This bug was closed because it couldn’t be reproduced... but it definitely happens. I’ll continue to watch for it happening again. Hopefully can capture more data.

Actual results:

Active tab closed, then the very first tab (far left) became active. Showed an animation of horizontally scrolling all the way back the first tab (index 0).

Expected results:

Active tab should close, then UI should swap back to the previously viewed tab. Normally each closed tab drops back to the previously used one, not the next one in the list nor the first in the list.

Thank for reporting. Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce this issue. Is there any chance you can post a video?

I don’t have a video because I can’t seem to get it to happen consistently. I can add a little info however.

Most of the times that I’ve seen this behavior I’ve been following some links from within TweetBot. Each time I click on one it opens a new tab in FireFox for iOS (iPad in this case). Just a few minutes ago I went back and closed each of the tabs in FF that had been opened from TweetBot. When I closed the final one that TweetBot had opened then the tab bar scrolled all the way back to the beginning as described in the bug.

Unfortunately the steps above don’t work every time. My best guess is that it’s because I had locked and unlocked my iPad numerous times imbetween tab opens?

This happens to me fairly often; closing a tab puts me all the way back in the first tab instead of the adjacent or most-recent one, whichever it's supposed to do. I reported this myself ages ago but I don't recall whether I filed a bug or submitted feedback about it in the app.

Hi, I think I have a grasp on this. This happens only after you let your iPad settle with some tabs open.
Then you can try to replicate it.
Do not open the tab general view (all tabs arranged side by side) before testing this bug.
