User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020530
BuildID: 2002053012
It appears that Microsoft have recenly change the HTML of their KB support
application or the rendering engine of Mozilla 1.0 has changed. Text now
appears on top of other text and makes the page unreadable.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to the page above
2.
3.
Actual Results: Text is on top of other text
Expected Results: I expect to be able to read the support pages without having
to use IE
I am sure you guys have thought of this but there are many pages on the web that
are not syntatically correct. The problem I have with Mozilla is that it cannot
display these pages where IE can. (I have reported this same type of problem
with at least one other page I use often). In particular the KB support page
listed in this email requires me to use IE (even though I would rather use
Mozilla). I am a developer but your ordinary users will not tolerate this.
I have a suggestion, perhaps the rendering engine should ignore these problems
as in IE but alert the user of the syntax problems. This way the page can be
rendered but the designer of the web page has the opportunity to correct it. I
realize this is not an ideal solution (in this imperfect world) but I want to
see Mozilla succeed beyond what IE has accomplished and do not see how this
would be possible if you cannot convince the ordinary user to have only one
browser on their desktop.
Just my 2c
Thanks,
Dan
