Hmm, I don't understand how we end up with black as the text color in input fields (not just the search field).

What OS did you use? The above range only contains Linux changes. Can you check on Windows 10?

On Windows10, at least, since 37.0a1(2014-12-06)
So, I think this is not a regression on Windows10.

I have managed to find a regression for this issue on Win 10, here is the pushlog: https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=2893f60d5903&tochange=41a54c8add09. I would like to mention that on builds below 2014-05-17 I could't set the preferences because they got automatically reverted to default after closing the font color window.(In reply to Dão Gottwald [::dao] from comment #5)

When you try to make a search on an specific folder the black theme is not correctly apply on the search tool

I don't know if my issue is the same as this. I am using Linux slackware-14.2.
Everything was fine with thunderbird-95.0b5. When I upgraded to 96.0b1 I wound
up with a black background similar to shown here. Didn't do a search or anything.
Just started thunderbird.

This is what I get when I start Thunderbird.

TB 104.0b1 Windows 11 in dark mode, system theme chosen in TB menu.
Received mail is black on white. Readable. Reply to that mail is black on gray - NOT readable. This has been going on for years now. I've tried other themes but nothing helps. I have to manually set the foreground color to blue or orange to be able to edit the reply. I don't know if there is a requirements document anywhere for how TB works in dark mode, but this can't be the correct response.

Ugh, that seems really frustrating. @doug2, do you also use Firefox? Have you managed to reproduce this bug there?

Flags: needinfo?(dmccammishjr)

I do use Firefox and do not have any problems. I had the "Dark" theme enabled but just switched to the System theme. I don't see any difference.
