Hey Aaron; assuming we wanted to start this work in early Q2, does that fit with your timeline here? I think this work is done, but figured I'd check just in case.
And just to confirm, is this the final design +copy?

Hey Rachel, yeah that's the latest design and copy from Meridel so I think it's safe to hand off to engineering. Let me know if we're missing any detail in the spec or the copy document that's linked to at the bottom.

Great, thanks Aaron! I missed that copy doc linked in there.

abenson: a couple of questions.
- In the copy, how much should "Firefox" respect our branding? That is, should we always say "Firefox", should we say
MOZ_APP_DISPLAYNAME
like the updater does (which is pretty similar to thebrandName
property IIRC), or something else?
browser/branding/aurora/configure.sh MOZ_APP_DISPLAYNAME="Firefox Developer Edition"
browser/branding/nightly/configure.sh MOZ_APP_DISPLAYNAME="Firefox Nightly"
browser/branding/official/configure.sh MOZ_APP_DISPLAYNAME=Firefox
browser/branding/unofficial/configure.sh MOZ_APP_DISPLAYNAME=Nightly
- Should we be taking any Windows colors and/or themes into account? It might be technically possible to distinguish light from dark mode (see https://stackoverflow.com/q/51334674). I think we have very little control over anything save the image we show but perhaps that matters?
